A Look Back through 9 Seasons of The Garment Decorators Podcast

With Season 10 Episode 1 of The Garment Decorators Podcast just release, we thought we'd take a look back at a whopping 9 seasons of audible heat printing business content.

So, what is The Garment Decorators Podcast?

The Only Heat Printing Podcast in the UK!

Andy and Molly discuss everything from heat printing, customer stories, starting and running a business, marketing, upcoming trends in the industry, lifestyle topics, and everything in between. Over the years they've hosted multiple incredible guests including entrepreneurs of successful t-shirt side hustles, garment suppliers, industry experts, and more. This podcast really is a one-stop shop for Heat Printers.

The start of The Garment Decorators Podcast

Or.. The Target Transfers Podcast as it was called back then.

A brainchild idea of both Andy and Molly, they got started designing a series of episodes that would be filmed and recorded from the Stahls' UK conference room.

The first ever episode dropped on April 23rd 2022 to promo the then  brand new UltraColour Max DTF Heat Transfer.

By the second episode, they were already hosting guests with Daniel Watson of luxury streetwear brand FORmE gracing the airwaves. This was followed by Darren Sedge (pictured) from Squeezed Orange along with other episodes helping heat printers to start a successful tshirt business, and how to avoid common heat printing mistakes.

6 successful episodes later, and it was on to Season 2!

Season 2 kicked off with the history of Target Transfers (Now Stahls' UK), Stahls and Hotronix, followed closely by our first-ever episode with San Ferdinand the UK & Europe Sales and Marketing Director for BELLA+CANVAS . Known as one of the largest apparel manufacturers in the world, Andy, Molly and San dove deep into the world of sustainable garment production and the best selling Bella+Canvas products.

After the success of Season 1, Andy and Molly decided it was time for a podcast upgrade. So, with Season 2 came the serious glow-up of The Garment Decorators Podcast. A dedicated podcast recording studio within our Heat Printing Innovation Centre with new microphones, new recording equipment, and most importantly, comfortable chairs!

Other episodes from Season 2 include The Top 5 Productivity Hacks for Heat Printing, Building and Maintaining Customer Relationships and our first-ever introduction to Taffy Murdock who told us all about how he created his inspiring lifestyle brand.

Just 4 months after it started, Season 3 began!

And let us tell you, it was PACKED with guests!

The first episode began with an extremely inspirational guest, Steven Oram founder of Proud and Gifted. Steven told us all about his mission to change the way the world views young people and his introduction to heat printing.

We were lucky enough to invite Darren from Squeezed Orange back to the podcast again, but this time in our much-improved recording studio. Followed up by other amazing guests such as Simon & Kat from Ralawise , a global garment distributor and Chessie from Squeegee and Ink, a UK Screen Print Studio.

We were also joined via video call by Dave Conner from Stahls Transfer Express and Danielle Petroskey from STAHLS' over in the US.

1000 downloads!

It was during this season that we celebrated our first podcast milestone, 1000 downloads! You might've noticed that Molly managed to launch a line of podcast themed apparel throughout the previous seasons too!

Season 4 kicked off with a visit from Printing on Sea , an Essex-based print shop. Adam & Adam talked through their journey to conquer their local area.

We were also lucky enough to be visited in the studio by Phil from 34 North Print Studio who told us all about his journey from Royal Airforce serviceman to kitting out Olympic sports teams!

A big focus this season was heat printing Leavers Hoodies.

With an entire episode focused on gaining Leaver's garment business, as well as episode 4 where we were joined via video link by James and Kirsten from AWDis Brands , manufacturer of an extensive blank garment portfolio including the ever-popular JustHoods JH001 used widely as a Leavers Hoodie.

It's worth noting that somewhere during this season Molly managed to launch a SECOND clothing line.

Season 5 is themed around starting, growing and building your business.

This season is packed with episodes that are brimming with advice and experience that you can learn from.

In the first episode, Andy and Molly discuss the importance of properly planning out your new business venture. By episode 2, they were back with Taffy Murdock discussing the all-important work-life balance.

We were lucky enough to have the extremely charismatic James and Stephanie from local print business, Brand It Essex who focused on the importance of branding your business.

With other episodes offering Marketing Advice from STAHLS' Social Media Marketing manager Danielle Petroskey , Business Advice from Stahls' UK Managing Director Martin Borley and The Best Blank Garments to get started with from Kelly Walters

Season 6 saw the return of San from Bella+Canvas.

Fresh from a successful Colour Launch event at The Heat Printing Innovation Centre, San, Andy and Molly discuss all the newest trending colours for 2023 apparel decorating.

Ralawise returned via video link once again and we welcomed Ellen and Alistair from Graphtec GB into the studio for an episode of Cutting Matters in the Garment Decorators Podcast Studio!

We were also joined by Great Dane Graphics for a much anticipated Artworking podcast where Dane gave us an insight into how to get started with art working designs for heat transfers as well as tips, tricks and so much more.

Events were very much the topic of Season 6 and it didn't stop with The Colour Launch or The Vinyl Summit either.

With Printwear and Promotion 2023 on the horizon, Andy and Molly sat down to give our listeners the top 5 stands they should visit while attending.

Still with us?

Great stuff! On to Season 7!

With a stronger message of inclusivity for the whole garment decorating industry in tow, the subtle rebrand began. Graphics started to changeover and The Target Transfers Podcast transformed officially into The Garment Decorators Podcast.

Focusing on the new message, Andy and Molly took the podcast back to basics this season with not a single guest! But don't worry, it's still jam-packed with all the good stuff.

In this season, you can learn how to gain extra revenue from your local area as well as dispelling long-standing heat printing myths to benefit your business.

The podcast also turned ONE YEAR OLD!

To celebrate, Andy and Molly hosted their first ever LIVE PODCAST which was streamed across Youtube, Facebook and Linkedin.

Almost there don't worry..

Season 8 began with a bang! And by a bang, we mean Dave from Stahls Transfer Express and his explosive energy. Back via video link, Andy, Molly and Dave dove head first into the US heat printing market.

This season took a strong focus on heat printing hats. With an entire episode dedicated to the Headwear LIVE heat printing event as well as an entirely separate exclusive interview with Ashford and Chris  from Beechfield Brands , the UK's premier supplier of hats and caps.

We were visited by AWDis Brands ambassadors Kyle and Tiffany for a comedy-filled episode that is thoroughly entertaining. Filled with their own experiences with customers as well as lots of product recommendations for heat printers, this is definitely one you don't want to miss!

Our final guest of this season was the inspirational Charlotte Robinson from Minus Cloud Nine who discussed how heat printing helped her connect with customers and expand her business.

Finally, Season 9.

The longest season so far with a whopping 13 episodes!

Our previous artworking episodes gained so much traction, we decided to treat our listeners to an episode themed all around artworking Leavers 2024 designs. And spoiler alert, it doesn't involve weeding HTV!

Andy and Molly recorded a guide to choosing the right heat press for your business as well as a handful of Global Masterclass-themed episodes, joined by Jenna Sackett from STAHLS'

The biggest 'podcast' of all took place on September 27th, with The Global Masterclass bringing Stahls' UK, Stahls' US, Velflex Australia and lots of international heat printing experts, garment manufacturers and heat printers together for one 12-hour virtual extravaganza of learning.

We were joined in the studio by Grace Owen and Lauren Hoskinson from TriDri , the UK's #1 Athleisure manufacturer as well as Carys Evans , the editor of Print Monthly Magazine.

If you're still with us, then you are officially our #1 fan.
