Make profit by Heat Printing Comic Relief Shirts

Whats the most profitable way of heat printing Comic Relief, Red Nose Day shirts?

Comic Relief's Red Nose Day is one of the most well known charity fundraising days across the UK. With 42.8 million British pounds donated in 2022 and millions of people fundraising for the cause, there is an enormous market for custom heat printed fundraiser tshirts.

So how can you get started finding establishments in need of those personalised charity tshirts?

Hop onto google maps, of course.

When we began listing the types of groups that would normally host a fundraising charity challenge for Red Nose Day, we came up with:

  • Secondary Schools
  • Primary Schools
  • Sports clubs and gyms
  • Hobby clubs like Scouts groups and Girl Guides.

Focusing on the latter, we found 4 Scouts groups local to our Heat Printing Innovation Centre in Braintree, Essex.

Every Scouts club averages over 150+ members meaning we've got 600+ potentially fundraising scouts members in our local area.

That's 600+ potentially heat printed t-shirts that your business could be making profit on.

It doesn't stop there either...

There are 3473 secondary schools in the UK with an average of 986 pupils per school

This equates to a possible 3,424,378 event shirts for each fundraising event.

There are 20,788 primary schools in the UK with roughly 182 pupils per school

This equates to a possible 3,783,416 event shirts for each fundraising event.

There are 3,496 Gyms & Fitness Centres in the UK as of 2023 that will be very likely to host regular charity based challenges.

With 10.3 million people holding gym memberships across the UK there is massive potential here for fitness related charity fundraising tshirts.

Whats the most profitable way of heat printing Comic Relief shirts?

We've got two methods for you

Method 1 -

If you've got 150 members in 1 of your local scouts branch, and you fit 2x designs per A3 UltraColour heat transfer sheet, you will need to order 75 sheets.

This works out at just £2.15 per tshirt transfer. Once you've combined this with a £4 blank t-shirt, your total production costs come in at just £6.15 (even less if you're paying for a smaller sized childrens shirt). Selling each shirt at £15 each would ensure a profit of £8.85 per t-shirt and £1327.50 per scouts group.

If you can use the same transfer across the 4x local branches, order 300 transfer sheets to use on 600 shirts will mean that your transfers cost just £1.16 per shirt.

Combined with a £4 tshirt, your production costs will be just £5.16 per tshirt meaning that with a sale price of £15 per shirt, you could be making £9.84 profit per shirt and £5904 profit from the groups in your local area.

You could very easily sell these shirts at £20 per shirt and reap even further profit here but due to the nature of this charity event, one way to help secure these clients could be to sell the shirts at pricepoint around £17.50 /£20 and donate £2.50/£5 of each shirt sale to Red Nose Day

Method 2 -

You've pitched a smaller club or a family grouping who are completing a fundraising challenge and want individually personalised tshirts.

This is where UltraColour Max gang sheet minimum order of 1 comes in. You can order a different gang sheet for every group or family who approaches you.

We fit 8 centre chest transfers, 8 individual names for back placement and 8 small sleeve prints onto the 55x55cm £29 UltraColour Max gang sheet.

Thie means that each transfer works out at £1.20 and each set of transfers costs just £3.62.

Because these shirts are personalised with each persons name, you will be able to increase the selling price of these products.

Fused onto a £4 blank tshirt, the total production cost per shirt with this method would be £7.62.

Selling the t-shirts at £20, would mean a profit of £12.38 per tshirt, and £99.04 per UltraColour Max sheet.

Selling the t-shirts at £25, would mean a profit of £17.38 per tshirt, and £139.04 per UltraColour Max sheet.

So as you can see, there is massive potential for profit in your local area when fusing charity fundraiser or team based garments.
