Introducing "More Than A Heat Press" – The New Must-Watch YouTube Series from Stahls'

In the ever-evolving world of custom apparel, success takes more than just great equipment, it takes vision, hustle, and real-world strategy. That’s exactly what this new documentary style video series brings to the forefront in More Than A Heat Press. This isn’t just another tutorial or product spotlight. It’s a behind-the-scenes, business-focused journey into the lives of real decorators who have built powerful brands, transformed their side hustles into full-time ventures, and unlocked the full potential of heat printing.

EPISODE 2:

After an unconventional but successful period of growth, Benny Brown, founder of Benny's Yard and Allshapes, now runs his business out of a renovated bus in Felixstowe, transforming it into a tourist hotspot, a community hub, and a symbol of resourcefulness.

In this video, we sit down with Benny to explore how his business is More Than A Heat Press. Benny began his artistic journey as a skateboarder and street artist. College and university honed his illustration skills, enabling him to bring his creativity directly to the public through murals and commissions. As his work reached a wider audience, he explored new ways of sharing it - first through digital and printed pieces, and later through clothing.

By turning his artwork into heat transfers and applying them with a press, Benny was able to create wearable pieces, t-shirts, hoodies, and other garments that carried his art into everyday life. Embracing self-discovery and expanding his heat-printing expertise, Benny has transformed his art into a medium that tells his story through every garment.

ABOUT BENNY BROWN:

Benny left school with an interest filming and photographing his skate adventures. This passion led him to study Art & Design at Suffolk New College, where tutors encouraged him to pursue illustration after noticing his talent in still life drawing.

He continued his studies at Middlesex University on the Illustration course, where close mentorship helped him refine his observational skills. Graduating in 2014, Benny began taking on commissions, including murals and logo design, gradually building experience.

Obsessed with drawing, he quickly adapted his sketchbooks for digital and print. Early sales on Depop sparked his enthusiasm, and he became a regularly featured artist on the platform. As Depop shifted, he expanded into commissioned work, taking on murals, logos, and other creative projects.

Alongside his artistic career, Benny worked as a support worker for seven years, a role he loved but eventually left in 2022 to focus entirely on his art. Today, he works full-time as an artist, creating and selling prints, originals, stickers, zines, apparel, and commissioned pieces. He also runs Allshapes, a gallery and shop in a converted double-decker bus, showcasing his work alongside other local artists.

When asked about the equipment and transfers he uses, Benny shared:

"(Ultracolour Max is) Amazing because I haven't got to commit to one design. I can put a few designs in, see what works and then i can commit to a big order of the designs. Which is great, it allows me that flexibility. For my business, that's really important."
